Fish and Fly Fishing

I have been fly fishing since I was very young and understand the peace and serenity of that activity. I have always striven to achieve this emotion in my paintings regarding this part of my life. As a young boy I studied the water and it's movements and the interplay of light and reflection upon it. As I began to paint more I would spend countless hours in front of my easel trying to feel the water as I brushed with fluid motions to mimic those characteristics. I enjoy the feedback I receive from people, those that fly fish and those that do not, about how the paintings whisk them away to that feeling they get when they are on or near the water. My state of mind when I am wading in a river is placed upon my canvas for everyone to share.
